2014 Email Marketing Essentials – Calls to action.

A strong call to action is incredibly important for an email marketing campaign. It’s possible for you run a business and have never heard of the phrase “call to action”, for your benefit:

CALL TO ACTION: In email marketing, a call to action (CTA) is an instruction to the audience to take a specific action. Usually a phrase such as “call now” or “find out more” is employed.

Now we are on the same page, here are three essentials for your email marketing calls to action…

1. Be specific, people do not have time to waste

One strong call to action per email is the right amount. Make the call to action clear and precise. Effective calls to action are between two and five words. Examples include “Sign up now”, “Get your free sample today” and “Get started now”.

2. Make it urgent

Creating a sense of urgency is key. The above example call to action “Sign up now” is more compelling than “Sign up”.

3. Stay on top

The call to action of your email should be at the top, in the eye-line of the prospective customer. All too often calls to action are persuasive but not the first thing people see, therefore forgettable.
